Too humid or too dry?
A high humidity level is a problem, but a very dry environment is even worse. Heating and cooling systems are among the sinners of increasing dryness in a room. When the air is too dry, the wooden components of the piano will shrink. In severe cases, sections that are glued together in the piano may come apart. The piano then becomes difficult to keep in tune.
