Meet the Motion Sensor 2 Pet: Detect motion, light, and temperature – not your pets
A good motion sensor lets you detect movement in your home while you are away and sends you a notification if something is moving in your house.
But if that something is just your dog or cat moving around at home triggering the sensor, those notifications with false alarms can get quite annoying.
That’s why we are now launching a new version of our trusted motion sensors, the Motion Sensor 2 Pet – a pet-immune motion sensor that also detects light and temperature.
No more false alarms triggered by your pets
So, what does it mean that the Motion Sensor 2 Pet is pet-immune?
It simply means that it detects movement just like a normal motion sensor but ignores movement from your pets if they are in the sensor’s field of vision.
This way, you won’t have to deal with pet-related false alarms from your motion sensor and you will only be alerted in case of movement by potential unwanted visitors.
Or, for instance, elderly relatives that you want to keep an eye on via the sensor.
Trigger automations from motion, light, and temperature
Besides watching over your home and your loved ones, the Motion Sensor 2 Pet is also an ideal partner for your smart home automations as it monitors motion, light, and temperature.
This means that you can, for instance:
- have your lights turn off in a room if no movement has been detected for a certain amount of time (a good way to save electricity)
- automate your lights based on the natural light in your home via the motion sensor’s light detector (learn how to do that here)
- have your heating turn off if the room temperature hits a certain level
- and so much more.
Note that you need a hub that speaks Zigbee for the Motion Sensor 2 Pet to send you notifications on your phone and to communicate with your other smart home devices. See a list of compatible hubs here.
